A travelling photo exhibition dealing with the topic of Alpine glacier retreat as a tangible effect of climate change.
For the first time, the exhibition tells the story of the Alpine glacier heritage and the glaciological monitoring activities carried out in the Euregio area (Trentino, South Tyrol and Tyrol).
The core of the exhibition is made up of photographic comparisons documenting the retreat of glaciers over the last 160 years, with historical images side by side with contemporary shots. In addition to photographs, the exhibition presents glaciological measuring instruments and findings from the melting of the ice.
Conceived for the first time in 2019 by the Department of Civil Protection of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen, it is being presented again on the occasion of the International Year for the Preservation of Glaciers in an updated and enriched version thanks to contributions from MUSE, Eurac, the University of Innsbruck and the Österreichischer Alpenverein mountaineering association.
The exhibition is installed at MUSE – in Agora and the Sustainability Gallery – and will then move to Bolzano and Innsbruck.
