Invertebrates account for around 90% of the animal biomass in tropical forests. They are early indicators of environmental changes and the consequences of human activities, yet they are still underused in conservation efforts in East Africa due to sampling difficulties, taxonomic deficiencies, and negative public perception.
Wirbellose Tiere machen etwa 90 Prozent der tierischen Biomasse in Tropenwäldern aus. Obwohl sie als Frühindikatoren für Umweltveränderungen und die Folgen menschlicher Aktivitäten dienen könnten, werden sie in Ostafrika aufgrund von Schwierigkeiten bei der Probenahme, taxonomischen Mängeln und mangelnder öffentlicher Wahrnehmung noch wenig für den Naturschutz genutzt.
