Vertebrate Zoology Collections

MUSE-VER 03261_DSC4829
19 Collections, 10,500 specimens, Collection period: since 1850

The MUSE vertebrate collections comprise more than 15,000 specimens, belonging to the classes of amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. The small mammals section stands out in particular, consisting of 6,000 insectivores and rodents, as does the African amphibians and reptiles one with a total of about 4,500 specimens. Excluding the items from Africa, the collections show a close link with the local area and constitute important documentation of the zoological diversity of Trentino and its variations over time.
