A large wooden sculpture and a dynamic archive that intertwine art, science, and landscape: the seventh installment of the European tour of The Raft of the Medusa, a project by artist, filmmaker, and media theorist G. olmo stuppia, with the support of Irene Tabaelli, an artist and ski instructor from Trentino; Beatrice Cuccirelli, registrar and curator of the Marion Baruch Archive; poet Trevis Annoni and Giulia Possena; and sound theorist and manager Riccardo Braggion, along with a sound mix by Tiziano Pastor (Casa Pastor, Venice, Paris).
A modular choreographic work born of reuse and situationism, the Raft brings scientific archives and their forms to audiences and rugged landscapes. A visionary work conceived and designed in Val Grande (2025—in progress), at the border of three countries, it presents itself as a hybrid of art and science inspired by the works of Werner Herzog and J.T. Géricault.
In Trentino, the The Raft of the Medusa will be engaged in mapping the diversion of the Adige River, recoding the images and scientific data provided by MUSE, and undertaking the “sacred” ascent of Monte Bondone.
