He was born in Bolzano in 1966; in 1991, he obtained a Degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Parma, with a Thesis on "Ecophysiology of the autumn migration of Warbler (Acrocephalus schoenobaenus) in a station of the Italian mainland."
In 1992, he gained a PhD in Animal Biology (Ethology) at the University of Pisa, which led him to writing the Thesis "Stable and transient components of a bird community of the Tyrrhenian coast of Tuscany."
In 1996, he won a scholarship for the research project "Ecophysiology and phenology of migrations - Ecology of wetlands" at the National Institute for Wildlife.
In 1997, he won a competition for "Technician of Vertebrate Zoology and Scientific Museology" at the Tridentine Museum of Natural Sciences (MTSN) of Trento and worked there for two years, doing contract research and organising exhibitions.
From 2001 to 2008, he worked full-time with the MTSN, dealing again with research, divulgation and curating exhibitions.
Since 2008, he has been a cultural mediator for Biodiversity and Ecology at MUSE, Science Museum of Trento.
