Famelab 2014-local selection in Trento

An international competition for young scientific researchers with the talent of communication.

Sponsored by Cheltenham Festivals and the British Council FameLab in 24 different countries is an incubator of creativity and talent. The race involves conducting local selections in seven cities from which you will select the 14 finalists who will participate in the FameLab Masterclass, a training workshop in science communication.
The finalists will face off in the Finals of the contest held in Perugia on 3 May 2014.
The international final of FameLab International, in which the only Italian winner will compete with 23 competitors from as many countries in the world, will be held in June 2014 to Cheltenham (Uk), during the Cheltenham Science Festival.

The local selection-in Trento on February 28, 2014
During the local selection participants have three minutes to impress the judges with their skills
. Are not allowed instead slide presentations or projections and images.
It is necessary to prepare two different presentations from three minutes: one for the morning session and one for the finals in the afternoon, in case the contestant exceeds the selection in the morning. At the end of the morning session will be communicated by the jury selected participants list for the final selection in the afternoon. The jury will announce the winner of the contest and the runner-up, entering the national final.

The FameLab Masterclass
All first, second and third ranked of seven local teams will have the opportunity to participate for free to the FameLab Masterclass, a two-day meeting during which scientific communication professionals will help the participants to further develop communication skills in order to prepare the presentation for the national final.

National Finals: 3 May 2014
The last step of the Italian competition is a semi-final in which all 14 finalists compete for the final play of the afternoon. If a finalist had to give up to participate in the final, third place in his selection will be able to replace it. From the semifinal shows a small number of participants who log on to the national final, finally a real spectacle to be held late in the afternoon of the same day, in which the best participants will perform their new and different presentations in front of the general public. At the end of the presentations, the jury will decide the winner of Italy FameLab 2014, which will participate in the international finals of the contest at Cheltenham 2014 FameLab International in Britain.

In Italy the event is organized by Psiquadro, the heart of Perugia Science Fest in collaboration with the British Council Italy.
