Registration and Abstract submission

11 November 2016 – 24 February 2017

Attendees will be asked to provide details on all points mentioned in the Registration form. Two distinctive forms are proposed, one for participants and one for accompanying persons.
Registration will be valid only after paying the Registration fee online by credit card.
We encourage all who plan to participate to register as early as possible so that the organizers can plan and size the events accordingly.

Please note that the registration deadline for participants intending to present a contribution is Friday 24 February 2017; this is the last date also to buy tickets for the Arena Opera. After this deadline, it will be possible to register without contributions nor guaranteed tickets for the Arena Opera and with increased fee (if you will register after 24 February 2017 and before 15 May 2017, the fee will be higher by about 1/3).

A reduced Registration Fee will be offered to Students. To benefit from this offer, students need to indicate in the Registration form the e-mail of a Supervisor that can confirm student-status at request.

There is provided Awards (for early registered students and young researchers)
BIGFive offers a financial support for the best oral or poster presentation by a student or an early career chironomidologist (not hired and with maximum 1 year of postdoctoral experience), in any case under 30 years old.
An evaluation Committee and a delegate of the BIGFive team will manage the competition during the Symposium. The winner will receive a check for 500 Euros.

*You can reserve the date according to the Preliminary Programme (before Friday 24 February 2017) or after the Scientific Programme publication (within 2 weeks after the publication) by e-mail to valeria.lencioni@muse.it, giving you the opportunity to participate in the social events scheduled for that day. Conversely, always for one day, you can register at the venue, with a fee of 130 Euros, participating only in the scientific sessions (coffee breaks and lunch included).

The Registration Fee does not include travel and accommodation, the 2-days field trip (7-8 July 2017) and three dinners (on Monday 3 -after the toast in the Winery!, Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6).
As regards the dinner in Verona on Wednesday 5, we suggest to take any street food everywhere around the Arena after the guided tour to the city – the queue to the Arena theater will start in late afternoon.

The registration fee for Accompanying persons includes the complete Social Programme proposed to the participants (conference kit coffee breaks, lunches, abstract book, proceedings and scientific programme attendance are excluded).
The participation to the symposium by under 6 years old children is free. A reduced fee is offered to children of 7-12 years old.
Important to know:
- children under the age of 6 are not admitted to the Arena Opera Festival performance
- the field trip is recommended for children over 6 years
- children over 12 years can freely visit the museum without being accompanied by an adult
- the MUSE is organizing a babysitting service (TATA APP) at a reduced fee, during the scientific sessions at the MUSE or in the evening at the hotel.
If your accompanying person is under 6 years old, please contact the Organizing Secretariat to plan together organizational arrangements.

In addition, half-day excursions are offered at a special rate: only if a minimum number of 15 participants will be reached, the excursion will be confirmed - all people interested will be promptly informed as soon as possible with details about how to pay the confirmed excursion/s.


Refund policy for the congress registration
If you completed your registration before 24 February 2017 and no longer wish to attend the congress, we will refund 50% of the registration fee paid if the cancellation is sent in writing to the 20ISC Secretariat at valeria.lencioni@muse.it before 15 May 2017. Cancellations received after 15 May 2017 will not be refunded.

 
 

Abstract submission


Abstract submission deadline: Friday 24 February 2017

Each registered participant can propose only one contribution (oral or poster) as presenting author, but to be listed as co-authors in an unlimited number of contributions.
The submitted abstracts will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee within 40 days after submission and ascribed to the disciplinary sessions. Hard copies of the Book of Abstracts and Final Programme will be distributed at the registration desk; the pdf will be posted as soon as available (before the beginning of the Symposium) on the web site.

Guidelines for Abstract submission

Abstract should contain:

- Title (font: Arial 14, in bold) max 200 characters spaces included
- Full Author's Name with the presenting author underlined (font: Arial 11)
- Author’s affiliations (without abbreviations) indicated with superscript numbers (font: Arial 11)
- Text (font: Arial 12), min 2500, max 3000 characters spaces included.
- Keywords: 6-10
No tables or Figures should be included.

Instructions for poster and oral presentation


Instructions for poster presentation

Authors are invited to hang their posters at their arrival, from Sunday July 2nd or in the day of their presentation, preferably in the morning. All poster presenters are required to be near their poster during the poster sessions according to the Scientific Programme.

Each poster must be hanged at the corresponding numbered poster holder.
Poster size is 100 cm (high) and 70 cm (wide). Supplies to stick the poster  will be available at the Registration Desk.
The posters will remain exposed during the entire congress and can be visited during coffee and lunch breaks.
Note that in case you will not follow the above date/ time schedule, the Organizing Secretariat is not responsible in case of loss or damage of your poster.

Within each poster session, posters will be briefly presented with flash talks of 5 minutes, with a maximum of 5 slides each.
Speakers are requested to upload their file to the Organizing Secretariat before/immediately after hanging the poster.
Accepted presentation format: the Congress Media Center runs in Windows OS. Microsoft PowerPoint Windows-Office 2010 or 2013 are the preferred format. Pdf files are also accepted. If you are using a different OS please make sure to bring a version of your presentation converted accordingly. In case you want to use your pc, you have to bring an adapter and an HDMI cable to connect your pc to our projector.


Instructions for oral presentation

Speakers are requested to upload their file to the Organizing Secretariat the day before, if their presentation is in a morning session, or at least 2 hours before the beginning of the session, in case of an afternoon session.

Standard presentations will last 20 minutes: 15 minutes of talk and 5 of discussions.
Accepted presentation format: the Congress Media Center runs in Windows OS. Microsoft PowerPoint Windows-Office 2010 or 2013 are the preferred format. Pdf files are also accepted. If you are using a different OS please make sure to bring a version of your presentation converted accordingly. In case you want to use your pc, you have to bring an adapter and an HDMI cable to connect your pc to our projector.
