Riparo Dalmeri

Due to the extreme weather that ravaged Trentino in October 2018, the archeological site “Riparo Dalmeri” will not be accessible for an unknown period of time. All summer activities are therefore suspended.

Riparo Dalmeri is a Paleolithic archaeological site. Excavations at the site had benn carried on by MUSE for 20 years. The archaeological findings allowed us to understand the habits and exploitation practices of the mountain land by pre-historic people living in the area about 13,000 years ago.

The  most exciting discoveries occurred during excavations were the identification of a structure, probably a residential building, and the discovery of several stones painted in red ochre that lead to new interpretations on the art and spirituality of the ancient hunter-gatherers living in the uplands of the Prealps.

During the summer, Riparo Dalmeri opens to visitors with a schedule of activities to experience an immersive adventure in the nature and history of 13,000 years ago. Guided tours, archaeological workshops and prehistorical demonstrations (in Italian language) make a unique experience towards the discovery of life, art and spirituality of our prehistoric ancestors.
